Apricot Dolman Shirt for Girls

A few weeks ago I applied to be a test sewist for Sew Like My Mom's newest pattern, the Apricot Dolman, and I was accepted! It was my very first time being a tester, and I was super thrilled to be a part of the group.

The pattern itself is easy to understand, and easy to sew, but the little details definitely make it look unique and professional. I did up the 24m/2T size for one of my best friend's daughter. I am so lucky that a) her daughter is ADORABLE, and b) she is an amazing photographer. I sent her the shirt, and between the three of them (I have it on good authority that Dad/Roger worked as a 3rd person behind the scenes with M&M's), they worked some crazy magic, and made my stuff look awesome. (as an aside - above-mentioned bestie is Jen, glass jewelry artisan of Urban Fusions....go check out her site, her FB, AND her insta!)

This is a dolman style top, so it has a drop shoulder, but one of the options is that cute little inset detail, which I just love. Melissa also indicates top stitching on the inset area, which really ups the 'pro' factor. The neckband is done in the binding style, and huge kudos to Melissa for working so hard within the tester group to get that neck right! I wasn't able to do multiple testings as I sent mine via mail to my model, but Melissa and a lot of other testers sewed the neck over and over until the sizing and stretch were perfect. I was impressed with that!

And I couldn't just send sweet little V a shirt only - so I whipped up a pair of Lovely Rita Skinnies (by Shwin Designs) to wear with her new shirt. I bought the Rita pattern a few months ago when it was on sale and I'm so glad I did! They were a little more labour intensive than the shirt, as I was working with a woven, and there were lots of bits to top stitch, but the final product was well worth it.

That right there is some OVERWHELMING cuteness!
